Pittsburgh officials advise a pair of bridges had been closed after barges acquired free and started floating down the Monongahela River.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says five bridges had been shut down early Monday morning attributable to the free barges.
The incident shut down the Liberty, Smithfield, Castle Pitt, West Live and McKees Rocks bridges. The DOT says in a tweet the McKees Rocks Bridge and West Live Bridge had been reopened rapidly after 7 a.m.
Bridge inspection crews had been dispatched to search out out if any of the spans had been damaged by the runaway barges.
Officers are urging drivers to withhold far off from the affected areas attributable to heavy traffic.
